Jean Wemaëre, Chief Executive Officer of the Demos Group, founded Demos in 1972 at the age of 26. He has turned it into a large business in operational knowledge which is demonstrated by DEMOS Group having more 30,000 companies and 5,000 teachers across 17 internationally-based locations including the UK, the USA, China, Germany, Spain and the Middle East. These businesses range from large-scale enterprises to small or medium-sized companies.
Before creating Demos, Jean Wemaëre, B.A. Humanities, graduated from Sciences-Po Paris (Institute of Political Studies) and in Economical Science Studies, was junior lecturer in Economics at the University of Paris II and also worked as a parliamentary secretary.
His continued professional commitment gave him the opportunity to participate in numerous reflective and representative studies for training companies. As such, he chairs the Professional Training Federation (FFP) and acts as administrator for the Professional Qualifications Office of Training and Guidance Organisations (OFQFC).
He is also the Vice-President of the SYNTEC Federation and of the Commission of Innovation and Intangible Assets which he created at the heart of the Service Professionals Association (GPS), of which he is also the co-founder. Apart from this, he is also a member of the MEDEF Economic Commission.
With his blog allowing him to share his thoughts on operational and training activities, Jean Wemaëre has devoted his time to writing two books:
- Les 100 mots de la formation (The hundred learning words), 2007, Que sais-je
- La Création de valeur par le savoir opérationnel (Creating value with operational knowledge), in collaboration with Didier Naud
He has also participated in interviews with Arnaud Brunet which are presented in Ecole – vers le déclin? Entretiens avec des grands patrons (School – towards the decline? Interviews with big bosses).
All of his achievements have earned him the position of Officer of the Order of the Legion of Honour.
An opera enthusiast, he regularly attends major events of this particular art form.
